OGN Trackers on Club Gliders

We now have OGN trackers in club aircraft and the towplane. Please note that all screens need to be charged daily. They need to be removed and charged at battery station with others. Training video at:

If you are using OGN with XCSOAR

UPLOAD FILES HERE (Drive Link)

It is the updated database to convert OGN ID to Tail number.

Who's Responsible to Clean the Gliders?

Please remember we are a soaring club. This means the tow pilots and instructors aren’t responsible for cleaning the bugs of aircraft, pulling the gliders out to the flight line, or packing the hanger at the end of the day.

If you sign up to fly, you should either come out in the morning to unpack the hanger before 10 am or stay later and pack the hanger at the end of the day after 5 pm.

This is NOT a country club where volunteers provide full service to the other members. Please clean up around the hanger, your mother does not work here.

Fence / Gate Code

The new fence and gates have been installed at Saratoga County Airport.

The gate code is 1432.

X-Country Flights

The Club Board has been receiving notifications of both Grob 103’s ( ADK, ADK1 & 6T) wondering far beyond gliding range of the airport. These gliders are the “work horses” of the club and cannot be used for XC soaring.

These gliders are to be used for training & dual flights.

The Club Board has developed a policy that limits these gliders to be flown within the parameters of: West (the Adirondack base of the ridge), South (Ballston Lake), East (Saratoga Lake), North (Greenfield Center).

That being said, the Grob 102 can be used for XC. In order to fly this XC, you will need approval of the Club Board.

The board would like to see a progression to XC flying with the Grob 102 with completion of the Bronze Badge, then Silver Duration and Altitude, and then Silver Distance.

Please contact the Club Board for approval by sending an e-mail to info@adirondacksoaring.com

Electric Car Charging

A few of our members have been driving electric cars to the airport. Great, but our electric bill has doubled in the KW/ usage and costs.

Unfortunately, we will have to provide an assessment to those individuals charging their vehicles on their monthly statements or donations from those with electric cars.

Weekly flight logs, photos, and update flight write ups are coming …

Remember that Click N Glide is there to view daily.

Several week day operations with instructors setup on Click N Glide. Please be sure to be on Click N Glide daily. Also, several are showing up to the airfield without signing in to Click N Glide. Also, note that there are some weekdays where the instructor has not signed up so, those days are for private pilots only.

Please sign in so we can gauge tows and instructional flights. This is an important tool that we all need to use. Signing up in Click N Glide does NOT give you the order that you will fly at airfield. You need to sign up at the airport Duty Manager when you arrive. This is on a first come, first serve basis.

  • If a walk up Introductory Flight Lesson shows up and there is ability to get them flying, the cost of the lesson is $175.

Sign Up as Duty manager

All Members are Expected to Help!
  • Duty Managers are required to provide their manager service. If you have been signed up and you can’t do your day, you must find a replacement. The club has a penalty of one 3,000 ft tow for not showing up that hasn’t been instituted in a while.

  • The Duty Manger is required to schedule flights on a first come-first use basis. The student or private pilot requiring instruction are able to post pone their flights for the day if they are on the field, have signed up, and are waiting. The Duty Manager reports to the Duty Instructor on the field. Should the instructor find a better use of a student’s training, the instructor may switch the orders of flights. Ie a student wishing to fly patterns may go ahead of one looking to have a longer instructional flight. If there are any issues the Duty Manger and Duty Instructor needs to report to the nearest BOARD Member. The BAORD Member will make the final decision.
